Minutes from June 9th 2008 meeting
This
months meeting was the Michael Young’s house. The trees, pond, and sunshine made it a really nice
day. We had a really nice turnout with about 35 members and guest for our picnic and officer elections.
Michael O’Malley and CJ Slifko were the main grill chefs and did a really great job.
Cliff started the meeting
discussing the trip he and Helene are taking to Dover Delaware for the Nation Convention. They will be
leaving on Friday the 10th and be gone for about 10 days. If you would like a national T-shirt,
get in touch with Cliff.
Officer
elections were on the agenda next. Michael O’Malley was nominated and elected Treasure.
Next up was the office of Vice president, Tony Hager was nominated as was Rich Hibbs. They both
accepted the nomination and after a vote was taken, Tony was elected our Vice president for a second term. Last
up was the President. Cliff was nominated, but asked to be excused from the nomination. Cliff
has been the president for the last 10 years and is looking forward to passing the torch to someone else. He
and Helene needed a break for a while to relax and to spend some quality time with each other. Tim Sutherland
was nominated and accepted the nomination. There were no other nominations and Tim was voted in the office.
Thanks to everyone for showing up and being a part of the elections.

That’s All Folks! If I missed you
I’m sorry! Call me & we’ll see what’s going on so I can tell everyone all about it!
Hi
again,
Cliff was good enough to do the car talk for the last time to help me out.
I would like to try something new on the car talk. I will highlight each and every member over the
next 2 years. I would like to know more about you and your family. To kick this month
off, I will be highlighting Tony Hager (our vice president) and myself.
Tony and Susan Hager have 2 children (Ethan and Jennifer). Tony
builds buses at the Collins Bus Company. Susan works in housekeeping for Wesley Towers in Hutchinson.
Jennifer is going to be a Junior in high school. Ethan graduated last May and is currently working
with Tony at Collins. Ethan’s favorite cars are the 71 and 72 Maverick grabbers that he and Tony
have. Jennifer has a 93 Mustang convertible (Jennifer could use a transmission if you have a spare one).
Susan has a 64 Falcon Sprint that Tony is working on. It will have a 302 AOD.
Tony has several 66 ford pickups sitting around that he would like to find new homes for. Tony has
a lot of body and paint background. He’s a pretty decent welder also.
Tim and Diane Sutherland have one daughter (Rhiannon).
My brother and I are commercial contractors and owners of Sutherland Builders. Diane is a surgical
RN and works at the Center for Same day Surgery. Rhiannon works at the Sedgwick County Zoo in the horticulture
department. Rhiannon’s favorite car is her 75 El Camino Super Sport. I fixed it
up for her for a school car. It currently needs a new paint job and a little TLC. Diane
and I still have her first car. It is a 71 Chevelle Malibu 2 door hardtop. I got started
in Falcons when I bought a 63 Sprint convertible and fixed it up. It is currently in Texas being enjoyed
by a really nice couple. Cliff and I are co-owners of a 63 Futura that was customized in the 60’s
in Darryl Starbird’s shop. I have several other cars in various condition. I like
the 63’s because they are the last year of the round bodies. They are the first year for the V-8’s,
hardtops, and convertibles. Taking this into consideration, the 63 is a one year only of the round body
to have these features.
Let me know more about you. If you could just send me a paragraph or two
about you and your family and you rides you own, I would really appreciate it.
Thanks
Tim

Hi
again,
Cliff was good enough to do the car talk for the last time to help me out.
Thanks
Tim

Home Town Buffet (On Central east of Ridge road)
Wanted
If you have any old oil, Michael O’Malley
has his new burner up and going. He will be stockpiling this summer so keep him in mind when changing your
oil.

and I hope Helene and Cliff can take some time for themselves.
I would like to first thank everyone who came out to
the picnic and voted me as the new president of our chapter. I will do my best to represent our chapter
in a positive way. I would like to let everyone know you can call on me anytime if you have questions or
concerns about our organization. If you weren’t able to attend the meeting and haven’t
heard the outcome of our officer’s election, I was voted the new President, Tony Hager was
voted for a second term as Vice President and Michael O’Malley was voted Secretary/Treasurer.
I
will be calling on everyone over the next few weeks. I would like to get to know everyone in our chapter
better. I would like to know more about why you joined our little clan and what I can do to make it more
meaningful and fun for YOU. This is your club and your input only helps to it better make.
